Last April 18-26, we were invited to visit and explore Thailand, along with some of the world’s renowned fashion designers, fashion design students, media personalities, and bloggers. Hosted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), we witnessed and studied the country’s textile heritage and its potential contribution to the global fashion industry.
Along with newfound friends from the UAE, UK, Italy, Germany, France, Israel, Denmark, Finland, and Sweden, 36 who are fashion design students and 13 who are from the international media, we wandered through the textile cultural routes of Thailand.
And squeezed in a lot of shopping and eating in between.
For Day 7, we spoke to sericulture experts and visited Queen Sirikit Department of Sericulture to learn more about Thai silk production, took a quick tour to Thammasat University’s Faculty of Fine and Applied Arts, and watched a world-class performance at Siam Niramit.
